Educational Objectives and Teaching Features: The department is the first academic institute, which was established in relation to occupational safety and health in Taiwan. The program has a firm establishment of qualified faculty members and well-equipped facilities, it offers certification training courses for safety and health, and the core curriculum courses were approved by the Ministry of Labor. The objective of department is to educate students, so they could become occupational safety and health professional managers. The curriculum mainly focuses on theory and practice of occupational safety and health recognition, evaluation, and control. The graduate program provides students with a broad background in the fields of hazard assessment, risk management, and disaster reduction technology.
Educational Objectives and Teaching Features: Due to the attention of developed countries, which has long directed towards the sustainable development on environmental and natural resources and the trends of green industry, the goal of the department is to integrate professionals in environmental protection into training students in the field of environmental management with international and GREEN aspects. Each alphabet of GREEN stands for the following ideas: Green Economy, Resources management, Environmental technology, Ecological sustainability, and Natural conservation. Five faculty members out of 15 have diversified expertise in environmental management fields. Some members also hold the certification of Project Management Professional (PMP), issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA.
Educational Objectives and Teaching Features
Founded in 2008, the department is the cradle of the advanced geo-information application specialists in Taiwan. Two comprehensive programs are provided by the department, namely, spatial planning and design, digitalized mapping technology and applications. The educational goal of the program is to train students to be a qualified geoinformatics designer and engineer. The courses focus not only on theoretical knowledge, but also on professional skills. In particular, in order to fulfill the demands of industries for higher technical level professions, students will be trained to be able to develop, design, manufacture, and maintain various types of geoinformatics systems. The department's faculties consist of 1 professor, 6 associate professors and eight assistant professors, with diversified expertise in spatial design and advanced surveying fields.
Educational Objectives and Teaching Features
The objective of this department is to train professionals in environmental engineering, design, management, and monitoring. One of our main features is the excellent faculty members. Compared with other departments on campus, this department has recruited a huge number of faculty members who earned doctorate degrees with diversified expertise in environmental fields. Some faculties hold certified national P.E. licenses of environmental engineering.

Green Industry Research and Development Center (GIDC)
The center was established in 2010. The aim of the center is to integrate research and resources into the university curriculum to focus on the fields of environmental technology, resource recycling technology, natural resource technology, health and safety management, and green design. The center provides professional advice, guidance, and research packages for industries and helps them to promote environmentally sustainable management, innovative technology, and development of green product, design, trade, and consumption for the industries.
The center was set up in 2008, and was the first university-level research working group in Taiwan. The major research focus of the center is pertinent to the application of remote sensing, digital photographing survey, global position system (GPS), and geographic information system (GIS) technologies for collecting, analyzing, and demonstrating information related to issues of the environment or space. This center also provides professional services for investigation of land categorization and utilization, production of remote sensing high resolution photos, establishment of virtual reality system, development GIS or GPS integrating system, training courses, and space analysis, planning and design.
The aim of the center is to provide professional service for industries regarding to indoor air quality control and management. Established in 2011, the center recruited several experts with strong backgrounds and research energy in the fields of air quality control engineering, health risk assessment and management, and aerosols and nano-materials studies. The followed services can be acquired from the center: investigation and evaluation of indoor air quality, occupational hazard identification, epidemiological study, risk assessment, PM2.5 and nanoparticle monitoring and analysis, and domestic indoor air quality improvement planning. The center also offers training courses certified by Taiwan EPA.

Hakka Culture and Environment Research Center (HCERC)
The aim of the center is to promote the Hakka culture in Taiwan. The center, with various specialists in Hakka studies, organizes and provides different educational activities or combination of college-level regular courses to sustain such a culture and traditions in the Chinese community. Getting support from the governmental agencies, the center not only plays a major role in maintaining the Hakka culture, but also works on research related to smart and green architect or environment from the ancient Hakka wisdom.
The main goal of the center is to organize research results and resources related to eco-engineering of the university, including manpower, equipment, research plans, and collaboration projects between industries and academics. Through the collaboration, the center works with various organizations, including government offices, engineering and consulting firms, and non-governmental communities, in order to complete projects. The center will develop and collect information related to eco-engineering. The information will be studied and summarized by professionals in the center, which aims to meet technology demands of our society. Three major technical research groups in the center includes: eco-tech treatment group (including resource reuse), the ecological restoration research group, and the international collaboration group.
